I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Somatechnics Research Centre and the Department of Media, Music and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. I have published a book entitled
The ‘Fat’ Female Body (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008), and I am co-editor (with Nikki Sullivan) of
Somatechnics: Queering the Technologisation of Bodies (Ashgate: London, forthcoming 2009). I have published articles on embodiment, and the discursive constructions of normalcy and pathology, and my research interests are primarily in critical medical studies, public health discourse, appearance and the lived experience of fat embodiment.
