Fat girl, academic, writer, Australian, chronic procrastinator, fashion slave, fatuous.
I'm currently a PhD candidate, working on the topic of fat embodiment and sexual subjectivity (it's excellent fun when it's not torture!). I have a tendency to be contrary and question the ground on which most debates are held rather than engage directly with the debates themselves (I don't give a fig about 'health', for example, but I am interested in who the debates about health serve and why they're so vicious).
I love my chosen home town (Melbourne), adore coffee and excellent food, am fond of a well-mixed cocktail, own far too many frocks and want far too many more, but am in constant despair over the state of clothing available for fat girls. Any designers out there want to remedy that situation? Else if academia looses its charm, I may take up fashion design.
