99.9% fueled by caffeine

Hey everybody! I've been involved in fat activism for over ten years. I am the current president of The Fat Rights Coalition (formerly COFRA) and I am all about changing the world through self-love. On the right are some videos I did for the Dare To Show Your Face Project, also I have a personal blog called Guts and Shame. You can find me almost anywhere online using my full name, cpadian, carriep, or carriep_4321. I'm so glad you're here! Let's all get together and do something fat-positive! :)

(forgive me...I just had a big, big coffee) :D

Hi everyone, I wish I'd wandered over to Fat Athletes a long time ago. It's great to see people here talking about moving your bodies. I love Kathy B's earliest post here about appreciating the beauty and strength of her body. And later, about deep…

Vivenne, your sharing is so real. I have been back to FAN here and there over the summer but this is the first time I stopped to read all replies. Thanks for being real. Essa

Nina -- exactly! That is my favorite thing to do -- float naked under the stars. There are all kinds of nudist resorts all over the world. You can find some of them at http://aanr.com/. Glad you got your Y membership. Hope you enjoy it!

Hey Nina ~ I've been loving swimming lately too. (And I've also struggled with plantar fascitis, which is finally getting better after over a year of bodywork -- for me, it was a result of a misalignment of the pelvis). Re: changing into/out of your…

Just wanted to thank you and Krissy personally for this forum. I'm totally MySpace/Facebook-resistant, but I'm nuts for this thing. That, and I've got a bad case of Portland envy, and this'll help me live vicariously.

Calling all Fat Brides!

We've all heard the classic story of a bride not wanting to be fat on her wedding day. Many brides resort to extreme measures that are terrible for their health, just so they don't look fat in their wedding pictures. When did we become so afraid of being fat brides? Surely fat brides look just as gorgeous and radiant on their wedding days as brides of any other body shape. Help me prove it! Join the group and upload all of your gorgeous fat bride photos for us to enjoy and admire.

Dear Fat Rights Coalition Members,

Hi there! It certainly has been a while since we've talked. I trust you all had wonderful holiday seasons and are enjoying the first bit of 2009. I have two things I want to discuss with you. First of all, I'm sure many of you freaked out as I did when you read that Big Fat Blog would cease to exist in… Continue

Athletes at Every Size - New Photos!

For those of you who haven't been over to the Athletes at Every Size photo pool on Flickr lately, I invite you to check it out. We've got a lot of great photos and over 60 members in the group so far, but I know there are more fat athletes out there or even people who don't consider themselves athletes but who have done amazing physical stuff that went beyond their own expectations. Please join us, even if just to take a look at the incredible photos that are already there.… Continue

Athletes at Every Size (call for submissions)

For a long time I have carried around this idea in my head that I am too fat to exercise. Despite all of the message out there telling us we *should* be exercising (because otherwise we'll be bad fatties...ooo), there is a distinct lack of actual imagery, videos, photos, etc of fat people in the act of exercising. The media portrays all athletes as lean hardbodies and there's no room for the rest of us to see ourselves in that ideal.

About a year ago I went to Vancouver, BC to watch my brother… Continue

OTTAWA, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Obese people have the right to two seats for the price of one on flights within Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Thursday.

The high court declined to hear an appeal by Canadian airlines of a decision by the Canadian Transportation Agency that people who are "functionally disabled by obesity" deserve to have two seats for one fare.
